ABOUT HEARING TEST :

If you suspect you have a hearing loss, make an appointment with a hearing health care professional to have a hearing test.

  • Hearing test/assessment is done by a trained professional 'Audiologist' in a reputed / authorized Hearing Health Care Clinic/Centre.
  • Hearing test is easy, comfortable and safe.
  • Your ability to hear the volume of each tone (frequency) produces a unique pattern which is recorded as an audiogram.
  • The audiogram is used to determine the type and degree of the hearing loss. The results determine if the hearing loss is best treated medically or with a hearing instrument.
  • After the age of 50, a regular hearing test should be part of your yearly physical check-up.

TYPES OF HEARING LOSS

Conductive Hearing Loss
:

Disorder of the outer and / or middle ear which results in difficulties in hearing. This is commonly treated medically or through surgery (Hearing Aid is recommended only when patient cannot go through surgical intervention physically or as per Doctor's advice).

Sensory - neural Hearing Loss
(commonly called nerve deafness)
Disorder of the inner ear. Such hearing loss is irreversible. Tremendous advances in hearing instrument technology enable most patients to be significantly rehabilitated.

Mixed Hearing Loss

Contains elements of both Conductive & Sensory - Neural Hearing Loss (This is commonly treated medically, through surgery or Hearing Aid as per Doctor's advice).

TYPES OF HEARING INSTRUMENTS

Open Hearing Instrument
(Open Fitting).
High advanced digital technology allows these Hearing instruments to be used with special thin tube and a special open dome in the ear canal. They are designed for mild to moderately severe deree Hearing loss and give a more natural sound. Although the main part of the Hearing instrument is worn behind the ear it is usually very small and of little weight. This is the most comfortable Hearing Aid in wearing because the ear canal is not blocked!

Behind The Ear (BTE)

The main section of this Hearing instrument is worn behind the ear. It is connected to a plastic/silicon ear mould that fits snugly in the outer ear. BTE instruments can assist more types of Hearing loss than any other instrument. They are suitable for mild to profound degree Hearing loss.

In-The-Ear (ITE)

An ITE instrument is completely contained in a custom-made acrylic shell or casing that fits into the outer ear. ITEs are easy to handle and give you easy access to controls. They are suitable for mild to profound degree Hearing loss.

In-The-Canal (ITC)

Somewhat smaller than ITE, the casing of an ITC device is custom-made to fit the individual contours of your ear canal. ITCs are discreet, yet still visible within the outer ear. They are suitable for mild to profound degree Hearing loss.

Completely-ln-The-Canal (CIC)

The tiny CIC instrument fits so deep in many ear canals that it is practically invisible. A short plastic rod assists easy insertion or removal. Like ITCs, these instruments can be used for for mild to profound Hearing loss.
