Born in 1952 . Meghnad Bhattacharya is not only one to die founder members but also a friend, philosopher and guide of Sayak, a name associated with theatre group have through its journey of 35 yrs, become a household word in the world of Bengali Theatre. Since Seventeen Full length and Six Short play productions has superb efficiency in directorial manoeuvre as well as stupendous acting skill of Meghnad make Sayak to reach pinnacle of progress also adding to die enrichment traditional gracefulness of Bengali Theatre. The spontaneous wonderer as he is when makes original plays specially for two playwrights Chandan Sen and Indrasis Lahiri and on die other hand to a great deal of surprise Meghnad is a remarkable creator of translated as well as adapted plays of great Masters like Tolstoi, Brecht, Schedrin, Dode, Samarset Mongham. His miraculous and endeavouring willingness in organisation, moreover unflinching devotion in respect of theatre inducted Sayak to be able in rousing a place of honour and admiration in the heart of theatre lovers as one of die celebrated groups having full house shows for last 30 years in West Bengal, other states of India and also in abroad viz, USA, Canada, Bangladesh, Kuwait.

Under his leadership Sayak with its larger involvement of multifarious theatrical activities built up a theatre hall named BIJON THEATRE at NorthKolkata in 1979 in the name of the father of Bengali progressive theatre LateBijon Bhattacharya.  
                                                 
Besides Sayak, Meghnad acted in important roles in Shakespear's play directed by Utpal Dutta and Girish Ghosh's play directed by Bibhas Chakraborty and produced by the State Govt. He also directed a play 'Charduar' produced by Gandhar, another leading group theatre of Bengal.
Meghnad also directed two plays produced by Bangiya Natya Parishad at Canada in 2006 and 2008.
Meghnad is one of honourable Executive Members of Paschim Banga Natya Akademi and Minerva Centre of Excellence, West Bengal.

Apart from theatre, Meghnad directed several TV plays in different channels and also acted adeast 40 TV serials and films.

  • During  the ceaseless journey of 30 yrs. Meghnad did never retreat to court challange of making productions of various original plays as well as translated or adapted of great playwrights which carries a clear evidence of reputation nd popularity.
