Infertility has become a common problem in modern couples, who
get married late and start family even later. This disorder can
cause so much stress and hassle to couples who badly want to start
their own family.
A heart to heart discussion with your gynaecologist will help
you to learn more about this disorder and find various appropriate
treatments that might be done. Educating yourself about infertility
will even help to improve your relationship with your spouse.
Medical treatments, although bit expensive, would really help
out many infertile couples. Some of the cases get positive results
just by simple medications & habit modifications. Exercise
and proper diet would help to combat infertility. Avoid smoking
and drinking too much, as they cause serious damage to gametes
i.e. sperm & ova. One common cause is Polycystie ovarian syndrome
(PCOS), and laparoscopic ovarian drilling has very good success
rate, resulting in pregnancy.
Laparoscopic Surgery :
Laparoscopic surgery also referred to as minimally invasive surgery
describes the performance of surgical procedures with the assistance
of a video camera and several thin instruments. During the surgical
procedure, small incisions of up to half an inch are made and
plastic tubes called ports are placed through these incisions.
The camera and the instruments are then introduced through the
ports which allow access to the inside of the patient.
The video camera becomes a surgeon’s eyes in laparoscopy
surgery, since the surgeon uses the image from the video camera
positioned inside the patient’s body to perform the procedure.
Removal of Ovarian Cysts, Tubal patency test, Adhesiolysis in
endometriosis, even ligation can be done by laparoscopic surgery.
Many more procedures like Hysterectomy, Myomectomy can be performed
surgery reducing hospital stay and pain to the patient.
