Sujoy Basu when about ten begins
the art of Sitar playing from his illustrious uncle-Dr. Ananta
Basu. He had undergone through trainings of different Gharanas
viz. of Ustad Vilayet Khan from his Aunt Smt. Gouri Ray, Pandit
Manilal Nag of Vishnupur and lastly from late Sangeetacharya
Ajay Sinha Roy of Malhar Gharana.
Shri Sujoy Basu plays the sitar in his own unique way, which
is the blender of the renowned gharanas of his trainings and
at the same time, which made to become his style as comprehensive
one as well. The devotional passion with spontaneous overflow
of feeling, that associates with his sitar recitals make his
musical presentations bloom in many splendoured petals. The
class pattern of music that he waves on the sitar is a great
testimony to his novelty as an enlivener of the instrument.
The great Violin maestro Padmabhusan
late Pt. V. G. Jog placed a high estimation of Shri Basu's
art of sitar playing after several Violin-Sitar Duets that
the legendary Violinist had had with him. Shri Sujoy Basu
has completed his Post Graduate Degree; winner of innumerable
medals (including Gold ones) laurels, certificates, testimonials
and credentials and has been recognized as SURMANI by Sur
Singar Samsad/Mumbai.
Beside performing sitar recitals
in AIR, Doordarshan and in many a conference of great esteem
all over the India Shri Sujoy Basu is now absorbed in an enchanting
melodious composition on Indian Classical Music, as has ever
been presented, is on its way to emerge very recently classified
as "Rainbow Melody".
Now Shri Sujoy Basu is preparing
to his tour to Germany, Canada
