Ardhendu
Chakraborty, the one of the top most famous Bengali Poet, had
born on 20th November, 1934 at Rangoon in Burma (Presently Mayanmar).
In the 2nd World War, he had left his native place and had come
firstly at Chittagunge and then in Kashi lastly, he had arrived
in Allahabad. He had passed class VII in Allahabad and then
again returned to chittagunge. He had arrived on Kolkata in
1950. He had passed Matric Exam in Kolkata and got the service.
He had started his creative writing at the age of about 40 years.
He has the different types of talents. Apart from his poems,
stories, prose, editing magazines, he had translated a lots
of world famous literatures, and even translated from different
Indian languages. He knows Hindi, Romania, Asamia languages
etc. His father was Late. Bimal Chakraborty, mother Late Annapurna,
his wife Smt. Maya Chakraborty. As per creativity, his poems
are very unique.
He
had made his literary contributions as he wrote 16 nos. of Bengali
Books of Poems. He had translated different Books from Rumania,
English, French, Russian, Urdu (India & Pakistan). He wrote
the poetic drama named “Charti Kavyanatak” (Four
Poetic Drama). He wrote one-act play named “Duti Ekanka”
(Two One Act). His short story collections are Diane Hebre,
Taj Express O Anyanya Galpa. His created essays are Shamay ‘O’
Baktigata gadya, Pakistaner Pratibadi sahitya (Anti Establishment
literature in Pakistan), Nirbachita gaddya Sanghraha, biography
of Ivan Turgenav (Nineteen Century Great Russian Novelist).
His editing creations are Nirbachita Hemingway, Chotoder Kolkatar
Golpa. His english edition is Bengali Poems of Sixties. He has
edited jointly as Prithibir Nishidha Upanyas in Eight Volumes,
Prithivir Pouranik Kahini (Mythological Stories of World), Kishore
Gaya Kosh (Junenil Encyclopedia) in two volumes. He is the editor
of Bengali Journal “ABARTA” (Quarterly), and “BANGA
BASUNDHARA”. He is the secretary of Association of Friends
of Turgenav, Calcutta, Secretary of ‘SAARC’ Literary
Seminar (1991), General Secretary of Purvaiya (The East Wind)
A North-east Literary Seminar and Poet Meet (1995), Participate
in Calcutta Centres of “Doordarshan” and “All
India Radio” and Literary Seminars. He had achieved the
awards like “Pragati Award”, “Michel Madhusudan
Award”, “Bishnu Dey Award”, “Uttarapath
Award”, “Rahul Award” , "Poets Foundations
Award" and "Kaji Nazrul Award" by Govt. of West
Bengal in 2009. |
