Kana Basu Misra is an MA in Bengali Language and Literature from the Calcutta University. Has been writing since the seventies when she was a student. Contributes to the leading periodicals in Kolkata like the Desh, Anandabazar, Sananda, Bartaman, Ajkal, Pratidin etc. and also, to various Bengali publications from Bangladesh, UK, Sweden, USA etc. Had received a number of literary awards like Uttar Prabasbi Sahitya Puraskar from Guttenberg, Sweden, Tarasnakar Puraskar from Tarasankar Parisad, Michael Madhusudan Sahitya Puraskar from Micheal Academy, Premchand Sahitya Puraskar from Lucknow, Sushila Devi Birala Puraskar from Delhi. Jarasandha Smriti Puraskar, Manik Bandyopadhyay Smriti Puraskar, Sister Nivedita Smriti Puraskar etc. As a speaker she has been to various literary conferences all over India and also to the North American Bengali Conference at Detroit, USA. She had short stints as a College lecturer and a journalist. |
