MURSHID A. M., a bachelor of science from Calcutta University, is a renowned writer born on 1956. Murshid contributes regularly in field of Bengali short stories and other features in the little magazines and commercial magagines as well. He has proved as a potential representative of the Marginal Societies in his very first book Jaarkanta (The winter thorn), published in 1993. So came a series of such composition namely Fau O Feresta, Chhannabhumi, Mishkin, Amrita gung. He edited Postmodern Bangla Short Stories in two volumes (2003). At present he is co-editor of Haowa 49; a little magazine fueling post-modernism.
At the age of 20, he earned appreciation of the audience by performing in some plays written and directed by himself. Apart from the above he wrote several film scripts also.
He was honored by 'Galpomela Puroskar' and 'Sahitya Samman' in the year 1996 and 1997 respectively. He is also receipient of 'Loksakha-Sammanana' 2005 award.
Being inspired by the esteem company and works of Shyamal Gangopadhyay, Sukumari Bhattacharya, Malay Roy Choudhury, Samir Roy Chowdhury, Kinnar Roy and others, Murshid is strong believers of humanity and global brotherhood. He always craves to explore the various facets of life and experiment with different subjects through his works.
