The inagural India-Bhutan invitation Friendship tennis Championship took place in Thimpu Bhutan from 25th may to 31st may 2015. This was the first time that an international tournament took place in Bhutan. Ranked players from the neighboring states such as West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim Nagaland and Meghalaya were invited to participate in this tournament. The tournament generated great interest and popularized tennis in Bhutan and North East India. North East India has produced many top class athletes and I am sure very soon a top class player will emerge from this part of the world.
The tournament has been jointly organised by The Bhutan tennis Federation and Jaidip Mukerjea tennis Academy.
The events were:
1. Men's Singles and Doubles
2. Veteran Singles
3. Women's Singles

This is to promote tennis and friendship between Bhutan and neighbouring Indian states such as West Bengal, Assam and Sikkim . This is the 1st important tennis tournament to be held in Bhutan. Jaidip Mukerjea tennis Academy is a part of the organising team for this special event. Bhutan Tennis Federation has requested Jaidip Mukerjea to help them to organize this tournament which Jaidip Mukerjea has agreed.

Tony Roche, the former French Open Champion and legendary coach having had the experience of coaching World Champions like Rodger Fedrer and Ivan Lendl was in JMTA from 1st to 7th December, 2014.During his presence he conducted an intensive camp for the members of the Indian Davis Cup Team, which also saw Somdev Burman (the highest ranked Indian Player in the International Circuit) participating. On 2nd December,2014 an exhibition match was held for the media and dignitaries where our own Jaidip Mukerjea was seen playing against Roche along with Somdev Burman. The match was followed by an inter-active session with the press, a pavilion named “Tony Roche Pavilion” erected at JMTA to honor his presence was also inaugurated by him. On the last day of his stay, he also gave valuable tips to some advanced level players of JMTA. |

JMTA Women’s Tennis Championship 2014 will be held at JMTA from 10th – 15th March, 2014.
This tournament is sanctioned by the All India Tennis Association and Carries valuable ranking points.
The tournament carries a prize money of Rs. 3.5 lakhs which is the highest prize money Tennis Tournament for Women in Eastern India.
All the top ranking players of India will be taking part.
Final of the tournament will be held on 15th March, 2014 from 3.00 p.m. onwards.
Mr. Shekar Dutt, Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest at the final.
Mr. Satyajeet Burman is the Tournament Director.

Jaidip Mukerjea has recently been appointed as the head coach of the Indian National Commonwealth Tennis Team.
Our boys from the ASMA HUQ Foundation have performed very well including Ashraf Ali who recently won the under 14 championship at the Calcutta South Club in 2009.
Khan Bahadur was the runner up in the under 10 catagory of the same tournament.

March, 2010 shall go down as a red letter day in the history of Tennis
in West Bengal as it saw Indian Tennis Superstar Sania Mirza and none
other than the legendary ex-international player and former Davis Cup
Captain of India and the Head Coach of the Indian Team at the Commonwealth
Games 2010, Jaidip Mukerjea, together at Kolkata.
It was a very busy day for Sharmin Mukerjea, the person
behind the administrative aspect of the academy and her team as she had
to finalize the nitty gritty's of the event as the city awaited the arrival
of the superstar from 
Hyderabad Sania Mirza.
Sania took the stage amongst thousands of cheering fans, a host of dignitaries and a barrage of media persons.
Sania in her speech at the function was all in praise of the concept and facilities of the academy and citing herself she inspired youngstars to take up Tennis as a career as it could bring in name and fortune for oneself and the country.
She also spent some time with the trainees of the academy giving them some finer tips on the game and knocking a few balls with them.
ITF MEN’S FUTURES - 2010
Jaidip Mukerjea Tennis Academy organized the 10,000 U.S $ ITF Men’s Futures International Tennis Tournament from 15th to 20th March,2010 at Joka, Kolkata. Top ranked Indian players participated in the tournament with players from 14 other countries for the topslot.
The
tournament produced some top level tennis through out the week and eventually
saw Nathan Thompson of U.S.A coming out triumphant in the singles event
defeating local boy Rupesh Roy in a thrilling three setter to take home
the winner’s trophy along with $1300, the runner-up received $900.
The doubles crown was won by Asutosh Singh & Vivek Shokeen of India defeating Vishnu Vardhan & Divj Sharan also from India.
My association with Dhiren Kaka (Dey) goes way back to my childhood. He was a very close friend of my father, late Adhip Mukerjea. I was a regular visitor to the Mohan Bagan Club with my father and never missed a hockey or a football match in my younger days and was a staunch supporter of the club. My father Captained the Mohan Bagan hockey team and I also played the few hockey matches for Mohan Bagan 2nd eleven. Dhiren Kaka encouraged me to play all games and when he saw me play tennis he told my father that I should concentrate on tennis as I had a flair for the game, hence I owe a lot of my success to him. One of my earliest memories of him is as a young boy I was fascinated to dress up like a cowboy, Dhiren Kaka was going to the US on some work and I vividly remember I asked him to bring back a cowboy outfit, which he did so complete with a hat and a toy gun. I did not realize how hard it is to carry stuff for others all the way from the US. He was very kind hearted and generous and would go out of the way to help persons in trouble. Another incident which comes to my mind is that once before Mohan Bagan and Eastbengal football match I need a few tickets in the 11th hour, I went to his house couple of hours before the match, at first he was reluctant to give the tickets but at the end as usual gave in to my request.
He had a permanent table reserved for him for lunch at the Bengal Club and whenever I wanted to have wonderful meal, I would drop in to the club uninvited and join him and discuss all matters related to sports.
Dhiren Kaka's life was Mohan Bagan Club not a day went by when he did not go to the club and there was a special aura when he entered. He was loved by all the members and at the same time people were scared of his towering personality.
He was the number one member of the Mohan Bagan Club who gave his life for the club there was no one before him nor there will be any one after him in the Mohan Bagan Club.
I am very honoured to write this article on the birth centenary year of Dhiren Kaka a truly loved gentlemen with a great soul and a kind heart who I will never forget.
