About Me:
Dr.
Pashupati Prasad Mahato was born on 29th October, 1943 at the
village, Dabar in the district of Purulia, West Bengal, India.
His father was late Rabindranath Mahato and mother was late Anjana
Mahato.
Dr. Pashupati Prasad Mahato stood first class first in M.A. (Anthropology)
in 1966 from Ranchi University, under the able guidance of late
Prof. A.B. Saran, he was conferred and awarded with D. Litt for
his outstanding research on "the Social mobility movement
of the Kudmi Mahatos of Purulia and neighbouring areas of
Bihar & Orissa" from Ranchi University in 1995. He was
the senior Research Fellow(1972-75) in Anthropological Survey
of India and worked under Dr. Surajit Chandra Sinha, eminent Anthropologist
and former Vice Chancellor of Viswa Bharati University, Santiniketan,
India. He also worked under Dr. Kumar Suresh Sing, I.A.S, one
of the leading Indian Social Scientist of India. He retired from
Althropological Survey of India in 2003. He is life member of
the Asiatic Society and member of the Anthropology Sub-Committee.
He is also life member of the Institute of Historical Studies,
Kolkata and life member of Indian Association. He is expert in
organizing Chhau (Chhow) dance and participated in various international
and national festivals. He is also life fellow of the Indian Academy
of Social Sciences (Allahabad) and founder Director of “Folklore
Academy of indigenous people of India” and “Centre
for study and Research on indigenous people of India” affiliated
to Mulnivashi Mach Regarpura, Karolbagh, New Delhi – 1100
005 and BAMCEF. He was guest professor in the University of Sussex
and invited in Briton Festival and also in National University
of Australia. He was awarded “Jharkhand Ratna: in 1994 by
the Jharkhand Buddijibi Manch and “Banga Ratna” in
2009 by the “Better World” and Indian Free Lance Journalist.
He is regular contributor in daily Bengali newspapers like “Dainik
Statesman”, “Pratidin” etc. He was awarded with
Ambedkar Fellowship from Dalit Sahitya Academy for his outstanding
contribution for the liberation of the Dalit People in India. Life Member of Folklor Congress 2016. Life Member of Asiatic Society Calcutta. Jharkhand Ratna 2015.
