Sutapa is an impeccable name in Rabindra Sangeet. She has been groomed as a Rabindra Sangeet and Classical Singer from her early childhood by her father Manindra Nath Thakur. Later Jamini Ranjan Ganguly helped her in the classical. After that she was also been guided by Niharanjan Banerjee for Classic Music.

Sutapa in her journey proved her talent in Rabindra Sangeet by getting 1st class in M.A. for Rabindra Sangeet from Rabindra Bharati University. She is also a regular artist in AIR.

Sutapa is carrying a school named Gita Tirtha which was established by her father Manindra Nath Thakur. The school is helping to find the young talented ones in this field.

She is also keen in the subject of Music Therapy and capable as a lecturer as adjudged by National Education Test for eligibility of a Lecturer.
