Smt. Shikha Nath was initiated her musical journey into North Indian Classical Music at her very childhood in a Musical environment at Kharagpur. She had started an intensive talim from her father Late Sri Bijoy Kumar Nath who was a disciple of world renowned Sarod Maestro Pandit Radhika Mohan Moitra, Pandit Shaym Ganguly and later from legendary Rabab Maestro Pandit Birendra Kishore Roychoudhury. Then following her life she received an affectionate learning from world renowned sitar maestro Pandit Indranil Bhattacharya for a long time in Kolkata. After his sudden demise she is now receiving her advanced lessons under the affectionate tutelage from another distinguished Sitar and Surbhar Maestro Pandit Santosh Bandopadhyay till today.
She has awarded “Sangeet Visarad” from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mondal, Miraj, Maharashtra. She has performed many Classical Musical Conferences as a Sitar in both Solo and Duet Artist at various places. Now she used to perform SITAR in Akashvani, Kolkata regularly. At her early age she has awarded first place in the competition conducted by Sanskriti Samsad of Kharagpur in the year of 1968. Well known maestro and author Sri Nanigopal Bandyopadhyay was the chief judge of that competition. Her first Performance was at Darbari Music Conference in the Netaji Auditorium of IIT, Kharagpur in the year of 1975. Meanwhile she took part in many classical program in Kolkata like at Birla Sabhaghar (Gurupranam), All India Music Conference Kolkata, Bhawanipur Sangeet Sammelani, Khardah Sangeet Samaj, Satyananda Ashram (Jadavpur), Ali Akbar Music College in Kolkata, etc. She has also joined the Music Workshop lead by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan Sahab Conducted by Rajya Sangeet Academy. She has honoured by South Eastern Railway zonal Music Competition to give judgment for the competitors of vocal and instrumental music.
