| WBPC is the only NGO working in the Narkeldanga - Rajabazar slum area, one of the largest slum in this Metropolitan City, with its Base Office and requisite infrastructure, expertise and resource. A strong group of educated, experienced staff and a good number of local youths are the backbone of the organization. We have our field of activities also at Mahesh, Sreerampur, Hooghly and Subhasgram of South 24 Parganas. |
| We generally organize different Programmes in collaboration with Kolkata Police, Apollo Hospitals, Susrut Eye Hospitals, Sightsavers' International, Leprosy Mission, Central Govt, organizations like Directorate of Field Publicity, Nehru Yuba Kendra etc., State Govt. organizations like Social Welfare Board, labour Welfare Board etc., Rotary & Lions International, Boys & Scouts and Local Clubs and other NGOs and local Clubs. |
Narkeldanga-Rajabazar Slum Area is one of the biggest slum of Kolkata with a population of more than 6 lakhs. More than 90% of the male population of this slum are alcoholic and a good number of Drug Addicts are also there. This slum covers four ( 4 ) wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. There is a sizeable number of pavement dwellers as well as street children. It is a cosmopolitan area in true sense with Bengalee, non-Bengalee, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Gurumukhi, Santhali speaking people. There is Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh religious people. we also arrange for free coaching class and free computer class. |
