Sukumar Roy was born on 1887. His mother was Bidhumukhi Devi, who was the daughter of Dwaraka Nath Gangopadhaya , a star of Brahmo Samaj at that time & his father was Upendra Kishore Roy who was a real geneous in literature beside singing, drawing, writing & printings. Sukumar Roy made his excellency in writing beginning from club establishment, culture, Philosophy with a modernised theme. He died on 10th Sept. of 1923 completing his human life.
Shrayon of Kolkata has been organised a programme in combind theam of consultation – cum-publicity on Sukumar Roy. The related works-shop for ten days has been framed for practicing Recitation / Reading of humours writings of Sukumar Roy including “Abol-Tabol” by the beginners, most of the students & their guardians. A group of honourable persons discussed the trends of writings and life of Sukumar Roy. A combination of Dance & Drama through their ten(10) days programme had conducted. A group of different ages will delivered – “Lakshmaner Shaktishel” (Directed by Sri Biswajit Sarkar) Dance co-relates each other. Again there is a scope of execution of the art to child artist along with adult. To modernisation of humours literature from Sukumar Roy. A help had took from famous stage artists and directors also. During the workshop, suilable rehearsal of stage, light, sound, dressing and sets had combinded in a single frame. Last period of above workshop, a close- door performance had arranged to increase the mental power as well as self – confidence. Overall the works – shop has reached at the level of indoor – research on Sukumar Roy. The encouragement for new generation has grown up gradually.
Last year (2012) Shrayon of Kolkata pay the honour to Sukumar Roy in a small arrangement with some selected students along with their guardians. The programme become well successful to the audience. Actually this primary steps made confidence itself. On this primary steps and as a result Shrayon of Kolkata is going to celebrate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Sukumar Roy very shortly.
The aim of Shrayon of Kolkata through this programme to motivate the knowledge about Sukumar Roy among the people who either know or unknown. And to reach at the door of physically challenged people who are really unable to attend the show. Like orphanage houses or old-age homes. Shrayon of Kolkata volentile itself for their association. The Programme may get a great success on the bless & co-operation from beloved well wishers.
