Fort Gloster Industries ltd (FGI) an ISO 9001 Company was incorporated in 1884 & commenced manufacturing operation of electric wires & cables in 1958. The company had technical collaboration with British Insulated Calendar's Cables Ltd., U.K and subsequently with Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., japan.

The company was the first to introduce Extra High Voltage Cables with cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation of 66KV, 110 KV and 132KV. The company also pioneered Rubber Insulated Cables by continuous vulcanisation process in India.   These are just the first of a list of firsts, that include

The cable division houses one of the finest R&D establishments in the country recognised by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, comprising of a blend of experienced engineers and scientists trained abroad who continuously strive for import substitution, quality improvements and product cost effectiveness.
