For someone like JANIVA (RUMPA), her foray into the world of music was almost a forgone. Predestined conclusion.

Born in Kolkata,her domestic ambience revolved around music. From the tender age her young world of classical music is exposed to the exponents of the Art. Under the able tutelage of her parents (Bapi Roy and Sikha Roy). Janiva is introduced to the stage as early eight, since then music became her passion, her aspiration, her dream.

Having completed her school education, Janiva(Rumpa) was invited to Moscow. Her young shoulders now bore the responsibility of popularizing Indian Classical music and Ghazals in a foreign Land. Her favorite singer is Ghazal Samrat Jagjit Singh. She has got lot of inspiration from him.

Her return to India is marked by an extremely grueling schedule of recordings for private cassettes as well as invitations from celluloid world to star in feature films.
