BANASRI was born in Calcutta on 1st December. Parents - Sri Rabindra Narayan Ghoshal and Shefali Ghoshal. A family with deep insight in Indian music. 
She began taking lessons in Indian Classical Music at the age of three. She completed her ' six years "SANGEET VISHARAD" course from "Allahabad Prayag Sangeet Samity" trained by Late Sri Krishna Chandra Bandopadhyay and Sri Paresh Santra. Later on with years to her credit she took lessons and specialized in Bengali Modern Songs, Geet, Bhajan, Gajal, Nazrulgeeti, Puratani and Rabindra Sangeet from legends in the field like Sri Prabir Majumder, Chinmoy Chattopadhyay, Sukumar Mitra, Purabi Dutta, Prasad Sen, Chandidas Mal, to name a few, when she was in close contact with Bengal Music College, Calcutta.
She started to sing professionally since 1995. Participated in so many prestigious stage performances like Haldia Utsav, State Youth Festival, National Youth Festival, Biswa Bango Sammellan, Nazrul Birth Ceremony organised by Pather Pachali, Bengali wellfare Assoication Puja Festival show at Hydrabad, and Secunderabad, Sangeet Mela, Memari Utsav, Barasat Utsav, Cochbihar Utsav, Lake town Utsav, Barrackpore Shanhati Utsav, Chittaranjan Sunday Club Show, Krishashis Utsav at Durgapur with Manna Dey, AIR and Doordarshan Recreation Club Programme, South Asian Peace Meet Show & so many cultural programmes conducted by Govt. and Private organizations in different parts of the country. Participated also in various TV programmes, Zingles etc. Besides music she completed her Masters Degree in Geography from University of Calcutta with first class. Interested to read good classics, literature and loves travelling. |

 Her first Vocal Musical album LUKABO PREM KI KORE released from Raga Music and its gorgeous inaugurations on 3rd May 2003 at Music World Kolkata with the valuable presence of Honourable Minister Sri Subhas Chakraborty, Smt. Ramala Chakraborty, legend in Indian Music Sri V. Balsara and director of Bangali Sangeet Parishad Sri Subodh Gangopadhyay.
In her album LUKABO PREM KI KORE the implementation of Punjabi Dhol, Tabla, Kara-Nakara and application of western appliances like Guitar, jazz has helped to reach special colourful mood.
The rythym composition used in most of the songs is natural sample tone of human voice and after editing in the computer it is fitted in the songs digitally and that is why all the hit songs are totally different from the traditional one and thus the songs of this album should expect appreciation by all music lovers specially by the young generations as it is full of heart throbing beats of drums and other instruments with remarkable melody-a melodious, sweet, attractive voice of BANASRI, a fabulous rythym arrangement by TAPOBRATA CHOWDHURY - and SAMRAT GUHA(DIMPU) the keyborad arranger and the musician like RAJA CHOUDHURI , ARIF KHAN creates the album which is for collective item for self and present to the beloved.
Participated as a singer, performer in Bengali Welfares Association at Hydrabad and Bangiya Sanskritik Sanshad at Secunderabad in the year 2007. Also she performed at several corporate functions, shared the stages with different eminent singer like Md. Aziz, Kavita Krishnamurti, Babool Supriya, Manna Dey, Nirmala Mishra, Haimanti Sukla, Rupankar, Srikanta Acharya, Pratik Choudhury, Saiket Mitra, Nachiketa and got their bleesings.
She has tuned for her own Devotional Album "Chander Mati Noigo Shyama" and worked
as a Music Director for the Sufi Songs Which was written by Lyricist Ratan Saha and sung by eminent singer Subhankar Bhaskar.
She has been selected as a Judge for Sangeet Mela, For Barasat Utsav Idol & in Reality Show "Sapta Surer Jalsha Ghar".
Worked as a faculty member for Sound of Music the musical institution in Kolkata & Burdwan. |
