Born in the late 50s in the south-west suburb of Kolkata, Manojit has a thirst for knowledge of different human activities since childhood. The moment he decided to make documentary films, he joined different institutes and attended a number of workshops to develop his technical skill. He has worked as an assistant in a number of documentary films to gather first-hand experience.

Manojit's interest also extends to areas like folk-art, dance, mime, painting and sculpture, music, civil defence communication, social service, Unani medicine and the like. This has enabled him to see the real life through the lens of his camera....
