About Her |
Bani
Basu is one of the leading personalities of the modern Bengali
Literature, born on 11th March, 1939 in North Calcutta. She
studied in Lady Brabourne College, Scottish Church College and
Calcutta University with honours and M.A. in English. She served
Bijoy Krishna Girls College, Howrah as a lecturer and then head
of the department. Her translation of Sri Aurobindo’s
Poem, published in “Srinvantu” magazine, first established
her as a translator, later she translated two volumes of Mangham’s
and one volume of D.H Lawrence’s stories which own a wide
readership. She started her career as an original author from
1980, first in “Anandamala”, a Juvenile Magazine,
then in “Desh” and other periodicals of the time.
Now she is renowned as a Novelist, short story writer, essayist,
writing for children and teenagers as well. Some of her fictions
have been made into films & TV Serial. |

- Baishey or "Panthojoner Sakha" on Rabindranath's evolving concept of God.
- Borshar Album - a collage of Tagore, Atulprosad, D. I. Roy and Najrul - songs, along with excerpts of prose and poetry from Kalidas to Shakti Chattopadhyay.
- "Kebali Sapono" on Tagore's treatment of love in his novels. It is a combination of Tagore Songs and audio play adopted from his novels.
