Swapan Bandyopadhyay is one of the leading and versatile writer of modern Bengali literature who has contributed on Bengali literature by his unique column. He was born on 20th May, 1947 in Kolkata. He has the natural talent on writing creation since his early boy-hood. He had completed the graduation from Calcutta University. His first detective story had been published on a Monthly Detective Magazine on 1966. He has started to contribute the various kinds of literary creations through little magazines in his early days. Then he was inspired to write scripts on dramas. He was established as a regular Drama Script Writers of Akashbani (Kolkata) from 1967. And till date at least sixty(60) numbers of Dramas created by him has been publicly broadcasted through Kolkata Radio and other Radio centers of our country. His drama scripts have been also telecasted on Kolkata Television Channels. He has gained the enormous popularity for his juvenile literatures from eighties. He has the expertise fluency as the writer especially for detective stories, misterious stories,adventurous stories, science fiction, historical stories, ghost stories, comic stories, social stories etc. He is as usual talented to create other types of writings also. He has written many rhymes in his initial days. He is the regular writer on the top class children & juvenile magazines like ‘Shuktara’, ‘Kishore Bharati’, ‘Anandamela’, ‘Sandesh’ etc. and also on the top class adult magazines of Bengal like ‘Naba Kallol’ etc. He also writes features on various subjects in the famous Bengali Newspapers. He has also experienced for editing some of literary magazines. His first over popular adventure Novel was “Dragon Paharer Rahasya”. In his detective and adventure writings, his main character role, named “Meghnad Bharadwaj” is very much popular. He always believes on innovative thinking and ethical values for literary creations. By nature, Sri Bandyopadhyay is very much introvert. |
