Sampa Khara took to dancing at the age of twelve. Her initiation in the World of dance was by the Late Enakshi Chatterjee. Later her Gurus in Dancing ( Khathak ) were Ms. Suchandra Banerjee and Bandana Sen. She is learning creative dance from Aditya Mitra and Odissi dance from Poushali Mukhopadhyay.
Her dance recitals have been telecast by various channels like Dooradarshan, ETV, Rupashi Bangla ( Dance Pe Chance, Boudimouni). Also her programme like Rabindra Nath Tagore's Shyama in Vizag was well appreciated. Apart from this she has performed in Cuttack, Pune & Agra as well as in various regions in West Bengal.
In 1999 she establlished her Dance Training Institute where more than 50-60 students are being trained. These students are also participating in various programmes.
She has graduated in M.A. ( History) from Calcutta University and also has a B.Ed degree. |
