Smt. Gopa Sanyal devoted herself to classical music (vocal) from early childhood under the guidance of Kalidas Sanyal and Late Miss. Bijanbala Ghosh Dostidar, Sangeet Bidhyalankar. She is the grand daughter of Pandit Kalidas Sanyal of Sadarang Sangeet Sanmelan. Smt. Sanyal participated in Kheyal from Akash Bani (Cal), "Galpadadur Asar" from 7 to 16 years of her age.

Marriage and motherhood restricted her for few years. In 1974, she stood first in Kheyal, Bhajan, Dadra and Thumri in All India Radio Competitions. She is regularly broadcasting Classical and Bhajan from 1975 with increasing reputation from Siliguri and Calcutta. Her Kheyal programme are also telecasted often on Calcutta Doordarshan. Her two audio cassettes viz. 'Bhajan Malika' & 'Shono Para Parshi' have been recorded. One cassette viz. is Bhajan and other is Bengali folk.

Smt. Sanyal has participated in' 'Tuesday Concert'' in A.I.R. several times. She is a trainer in Indian Classical Music, Light music, Najrul Geeti, Rabindra Sangeet, Folk Songs etc

Now she is involved with many recognised cultural groups like for e.g., Bidhannagar Sanskriti Parishad, Bidhannagar Sanmelan Samsad, Sadarang Sanmelan, Murchhana Sangeet Sansad, Suradas Sangeet Sanmelan etc.

Smt. Sanyal is the Principal of Arohi Music Cultural Centre and conducts examinations in music, dance and tabla approved by Surabharati Sangeet Parishad. She has 2 daughters and one son. Her eldest daughter is a dancer of repute while her younger daughter is in to Classical Music. Her only son sings Gazal and plays the tabla fluently. They have acheived fame on account of their mother whose able guidance and tutelage have taken them to great heights.
