Music, has always been an integral part of our lives. As we say - "it is food for the soul”.

In the year 2008, 10th July  some like-minded people came together to form a musical group. And "MUKTODHARA" was born. "MUKTODHARA" was a spontaneous expression of some music loving souls, for whom, music is more of passion than profession alone. In Muktodhara. some of us are ex-students of renowned musical institutions like Gitabitan, Robitirtho. Dokshinee, Rabindra Bharati University and some are students of famous singers like Promita Mallick , Purba Daam, Mallar Bose and Asish Bhattacharya . What started as a very small musical group, is now a registered socio-cultural organization of 30 members. Now we are known as” Adi Baliygunge Karea Muktodhara Shilpi gosthi”.

We do regular musical performances. Apart from these we have had the privilege of performing for old age homes, mentally challenged people and other NGOs'. And such experiences give us immense satisfaction.

Our musical journey travels through the different genre of Bengal's rich musical heritage, where Kobiguru naturally takes the center-stage. Most of our projects are on the works of Rabindra Nath Tagore.

We also present songs by D L Roy, Rajanikanta Sen, Atulprasad Sen etc. We also perform some timeless compositions by Salil Choudhury,  Himangshu Datta and other renowned Bengali composers too.
