In the year 1933 Gopinath Dey was born in Kolkata & he has completed his studies in Kolkata. In the year 1948 he wrote his first poem in "Jugantar Patrika. Then he published "Janasevak Patrika" where Sunil Gangopadhyay was also a writer.

He is one of the founder member of " Nandan Patrika". In the year 1972 he published "Galpo Sankolan". At the same time he is also founder member of " Ganatantrik Lekhak Shilpi Sangha". He is also a member of "Shanti Institute", which has been established in the year 1918.

In his journey as a writer he has performed in different places & participated as a guest in different parts of India. Travelled in different collieries all over India, as a senior coal workers trade union associate.

Prior to my being established as Poet, myself was a devoted singer of Classical Hindusthani music. As a beloved disciple of Ustad Usharanjan Mukhopadhyay, who himself a disciple of Ustad Amir Khan, a prominent Hindusthani music exponent, I took serious Talim from Ustad Usharanjan for two and half years. Meantime I was attacked by a serious vocal disease which debarred me continuing Hindustani classical music. Then I took to Rabindrasangeet learning.

Apart from eight(8) books, a book on 'Kolkatar Itihas' is already in Press.
