Soumya Shankar Roy, a Percussionist, is a descendant of painter Jamini Roy. He has studied Tabla under the guidance of Pt. Shankar Ghosh & studied Drums and Latin Percussion under the guidance of Shri Manojit Dutta. He has also received valuable guidance from various Artist around the globe. He has got his ‘Master in Music’ degree from Rabindra Bharati University, he is also a ‘Sangeet Visharad’ from Chandigarh University. At present he is working as a music arranger. He has performed all over India & represented India in various music festivals in abroad like Germany, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Mauritius etc. Also he has been a part of the stage alongside great exponents like A.R.Rahman, V. Balsara & many others. He have played with different reputed bands of Kolkata & overseas like ‘Sam Smala’, ‘No Jazz’, ‘Ed Degenaro’ ‘Alvin Atkinson’ etc. He has his own Fusion Project ‘SOUMYA’.

Soumya is An empanelled performer of Calcutta Cine Musician Association & Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre. He is a diploma holder in Acting from Kolkata Film and Television Institute. He has worked & acted in many films, serials and stage dramas with numerous eminent persons like Goutam Ghosh, Ashoke Bishwanathan, Sohag Sen, Kaushik Sen, Raj Chakraborty & many others.
