Ruprekha Chattopadhyay was born in Kolkata, Indian state of West Bengal in a family with a rich tradition of music. Smt Ruprekha Chatterjee is the eldest daughter of Smt Pratima Bandopadhyay & Late Sri Sundar Narayan Bandopadhyay. Ruprekha had extensive training in Classical music, Devotional songs, Modern Bengali Songs and Rabindra Sangeet under the guidance of Late Chinmoy Lahiri,Late Sukhendu Goswami,Shri Abhijit Banerjee, Shri Jatileswar Mukherjee,Shri Ajoy Das, Late Neeta Sen,Smt Ashima Mukherjee and others.Currently she is undergoing training under Shri Jayanta Sarkar. She successfully completed her Master of Arts in Classical Music from Rabindra Bharati University.She also completed her course in Sangeet Bharati with Gold Medal from Geetabitan Music institution in Kolkata. Winner of many awards Ruprekha is an "A" grade Artiste and regular performer in Doordarshan, Other TV channels like Tara Music, ETV, Kolkata TV, and Channel 10 apart from being a regular performer in All India Radio. Besides extensive public performances in India & overseas, she is also a playback singer in a number of Bengali films. She has recorded a number of albums in Rabindra Sangeet, Modern Bengali songs and Devotionals from reputed music Companies. |

Ruprekha works as Asst general Secretary in the Gouri Prasanna Smriti Samsad established by Late Neeta Sen in memory of Lyricist and Poet Sri Gauri Prasanna Majumdar. Here she is the chief organiser of Annual Soirees of the Samsad as well as a Music Teacher of Bengali Modern songs. She is a member of "Association of Professional Performing Singers" (APPS) and Shilpi Sansad founded by Late Uttam Kumar. She is an empanelled artiste of Eastern Zone Cultural Centre under the department of culture (govt of India). She is also an empanelled artiste in Rabindra Sangeet approved by Rabindra Sadan authority. She has participated in various stage shows both in india and abroad in UK,USA and Dubai. She has appeared as a judge in DD Bangla's popular musical show 'Kato sur aar kato Gaan". She has experience in playback singing having lent her voice in films like Amarkantak, Banasree and others. She has made various musical albums like ‘Tomay keno laagchhe eto chena ‘ from HMV , “Chaitali Chand” by Biswas Records, Chicago, where she has rendered remakes of the legendary singers as well as basic songs. Her albums in Rabindra Sangeet has been released by Ananya Music and Sagarika Music (Pvt) ltd. |

Ruprekha Chattopadhyay has been participating in musical soirees abroad since over a decade. In 2004 she undertook a tour of USA performing in Durga Puja Cultural programme in US cities of New York, Boston, New Jersey and Los Angeles. In 2005 she performed in New Jersey, Allentown, Detroit, New York city Long Island and Albany. She was awarded "Certificate of Excellence" for performance in Albany by Bengali Cultural Association. In 2006 she performed in Saraswati Puja cultural programme in GSCA, Plainfield and also in Indian Community Centre New Jersey, New York City. She performed in various cities of US like Rochester, Jersey City, Kansas, New York City, Boston and Philadelphia during the years She performed in Banga Sammmelan in Liverpool, UK in April 2007 and April 2008 and in the same year as well as in 2009 and 2010 performed in other cities of UK. |
