Somerita Mallik, a well-known singer of Nazrulgeeti of this generation, started learning music from her mother Surupa Mallik. Now, she is taking ‘talim’ from Smt. Aparajita Ghosh, Shri Krishnendu Bhattacharya & Shri Subhankar Bhaskar. Somerita sang for 5 music albums which were released from different music companies. 1. Tobu Bhalobasi, from Bihaan music (Album of Nazrulgeeti with Rabindranath Tagore's poem by Sumantra Sengupta) 2.Thamma, Tomar Songe, from Bihaan Music (Album of Rabindra Sangeet with talk theatre for Children by Urmimala Bose) 3.Biraho Madhuro Holo Aaji, from Cozmik Harmony (Album of Rabindra Sangeet with recitation by Sutapa Banerjee) 4.Bulbul Kande Ghazal Gaane, from Questz World (Album of Nazrulgeeti with narration by Mr. Soumitra Chattopadhyay) 5.Matir Kachhe, from Bihaan Music (Album of folk songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam). She has performed at 'ntv', 'Boishakhi tv', 'Desh tv', ‘SA tv’, ‘G TV’, ‘Jomuna TV’, & 'Dhaka fm', 'abc radio', 'peoples radio' of Bangladesh, ‘Bangladesh Betar’. In Kolkata 'Tara Muzik', 'R Plus', 'U Bangla', 'Banga TV', 'ETV', CTVN, Uttar Bangla etc.
Chhayanat (Kolkata), a cultural organisation based in Kolkata, predominantly aims at expanding the creations of Kazi Nazrul Islam through songs, recitation and dance. Almost 80 members all over West Bengal. It has organised more than 50 programmes in number of auditoriums in Kolkata, namely ICCR, Birla academy of art & culture, Rabindra Okakura Bhaban and so on. Chhayanat organises 'Baithaki adda' once in a month where the members of Chhayanat perform different types of Bengali songs.
