Dr. Kuntal Bhattacharya is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences ,Kolkata. He is an expert in complex coronary angioplasty ,Stenting and device therapy ( Pacemaker, AICD, CRT).
He graduated from Calcutta National Medical College and post graduated in MD Medicine from VSS Medical college, Orissa. After that he did his post doctorate training in Cardiology at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and PGIMER, New Delhi.
Dr. Bhattacharya has a very good academic track record with publications in highly reputed peer reviewed journals. He is being regularly invited as a speaker , panellist and chairperson in many national and international conferences. He has also authored chapter in cardiology text books and CSI updates.
He established himself as a leader in coronary angioplasty by performing many complex cases, left main angioplasty, life saving primary angioplasty during emergency and bifurcation angioplasty. He is specially trained in Japan for complex angioplasty ,coronary imaging (IVUS, OCT) and rota-ablation for calcified coronary lesion. He has maximum number of cases where he used Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL- a latest modality for calcium debulking) during angioplasty of calcified lesion at Narayana group of hospitals at eastern India. The complication rate is close to zero in his expert hands with excellent long-term outcome. He has performed more than 7500 cathlab procedures and 500 devices ( Pacemakers, AICD, CRT)
Apart of Intervention he believes that majority and maximum number of stable patients can be kept on optimal medical management alone without intervention and surgery with good future outcome. He is a passionate clinician and believes that correct diagnosis can only be made by properly listening to patient's complaint and doing good clinical examination .
