OVERVIEW

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that most often is caused by a type of bacteria and affects the lungs. It is an air borne disease when infected people cough, sneeze or spit.

GRECALTES has started TB control activities under the guidance of National Tuberculosis Control Program in 1991 and adopted revised National Tuberculosis Control Program from 1999. We offer our relentless services catering to a population of 10lacs in Kolkata. We run 2 Designated Microscopy Centres for diagnosis of TB and 2 RNTCP Dot’s Centre to provide treatment to TB patients and 2 general OPD to increase the referral.

GRECALTES spearheaded a campaign where we undertake the mammoth task advocating, communicating and mobilising chest symptomatic patients of the slum dwellers in Kolkata. Illiterate and ignorant slum dwellers are unaware about the fact that a medical check up in the nearby Health Centre is a must factor when they undergo cough issues for consistent 2 weeks of duration. Our job hits the scenario here; we are on the move to counsel them for a sputum test under the guidance of Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Govt. of West Bengal.

We are charting out a Table which is representative about the records for the last five years. It speaks for our selfless endeavours for the eradication of TB.
