A conceptual change in the society regarding health care is being aimed at to advance the society towards a permanent solution regarding health problem. The global goal of 'Health for all by 2000 AD' has been accepted by the West Bengal Government. The curative institution health care services along with the preventive health measures with special emphasis on rural poor are being continuously geared up.

Hospitals and Clinics in the State :

There are more than 41,732 trained Health Guides in the State to look after health care and to provide guidance for the prevention of diseases. Continuous efforts are being made by the State Government to control the communicable diseases like Malaria, Kalazar and Encephalities.

There has been an increasing linkage between knowledge, attitude and practice of the family planning methods with the result of downward birth rate.
