Dr. Sumit Acharyya started his Medical career with MBBS degree which he obtained after training in Maulana Azad Medical College, a renowned premier Indian Medical College located in New Delhi in 1987. He showed keen interest in the speciality of Medicine and Cardiology from the beginning and received further training in the speciality in the GB Pant Hospital an associate Hospital of Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. He obtained his MD in General Internal Medicine from the University of Delhi in 1996. After completing further post-graduate training in Critical care Medicine he had a brief stint of Specialist practice in Medicine and critical care in the city of Kolkata. He set off for the United Kingdom in 2004 after qualifying in the PLAB test and obtaining GMC registration and license to practice. On starting his medical career in UK he was considered fit to step in the role of specialist registrar and offered post of specialist registrar in the various sub-speciality of Medicine. This strengthened confidence in management of patients in the sub-speciality as specialist. Following training in Intervention Cardiology he is performing confidently and independently Coronary Angiography, Coronary Angioplasty, Peripheral Angiography and angioplasty, Permanent pacemaker implantation, to mention a few.
