| Dr.Biswajit Sarkar is a senior consultant with a vast experience of around 23 years in the field Gynaecology & Obstretics. After completition of M.B.B.S, he did his DGO from Calcutta Medical College. Later on he went to persue his post graduation qualification, MD - G&O from IPGMER & SSKM. He was also awarded " Certificate of Honour" from IPGMER & SSKM. He is a life member of West Bengal Obstretical & Gynaecological Society & IMA. Apart from routine G&O procedure he has special interests & expertise in Laparoscopic Surgeries, TLH (Total Lap Hysterectomy), Infertility Treatment (IUI, IVF etc.) and High Risk Pregnancy. |

| Laparoscopic or “minimally invasive” surgery is a specialized technique for performing surgery. In the past, this technique was commonly used for gynecologic surgery and for gall bladder surgery. Over the last 10 years the use of this technique has expanded into intestinal surgery. |

| Total Lap Hysterectomy |
|
| TLH is a major surgical procedure which involves removing the uterus and cervix using keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery. Ovaries and fallopian tubes may or may not be removed depending on the reason for surgery. If the ovaries are removed, depending on your age you will start the menopause (change of life). |

| Ovarian Cyst |

| Cysts that enlarge can cause the ovary to move, increasing the chance of painful twisting of your ovary (ovarian torsion). Symptoms can include an abrupt onset of severe pelvic pain, nausea and vomiting. Ovarian torsion can also decrease or stop blood flow to the ovaries. |
