Dr. Anupam Chakrapani is working as Consultant in Department of clinical Hematology and Bone marrow transplant, at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital, Kolkata. He completed his MBBS from R G Kar Medical college Kolkata in 1999. He qualified as MD Internal Medicine from Patna Medical college in 2004. He then pursued further training in Haematology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute Lucknow and Christian Medical College Vellore. He obtained his DM degree in Clinical Haematology from Christian Medical College Vellore in 2011. After completing his training from CMC Vellore joined prestigious Tata Medical centre as consultant and worked for 5 years with father of haematology in India Prof Mammen Chandy. During this period team performed almost 250 bone marrow transplant (Autologus, Allogenic, Haplo and MUD transplant) with very good result. He went to MD Anderson Cancer Centre Texas USA for specialized training in BMT.
He has presented many scientific paper at various national and international society like ASBMT, EHA, APBMT, ISHBT etc. His special interests include Aplastic Anemia, Thalassemia, Acute leukemia and Stem cell transplantation. |

Training and Experience
1.Undergraduate : Five and a half years (1993 to 1999)of undergraduate medical education at the R.G Kar Medical College ,Kolkata. One year rotating internship in medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and community medicine. One year housemenship in Department of Radiology.
2. Post Graduate : Three years( 2001 to 2004) training in internal medicine at Patna Medical College ,Patna with postings in specialties: cardiology, neurology, nephrology, psychiatry and dermatology.
3. Specialty Training : One year(2005 to 2006) training in Department of Haematology at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute Lucknow. Five year(2006 to 2011) training which include three year DM Programme of Department of Clinical Haematology at Christian Medical College Vellore. Training in general hematology and clinical management of patients with hematologic malignancy, coagulation disorders and general hematology problems. Laboratory experience with bone marrow and peripheral smear examination ,immunophenotyping, Cytogenetics, Molecular studies in leukemia and Coagulation laboratory.. Experience in clinical bone marrow transplantation of both Benign and Malignant Haematological disorder. Five year(2011-2016) worked as senior consultant in Tata Medical Centre Kolkata, and did almost 200 Allogenic and Autologus bone marrow transplantation. In 2015 , to further expertise the skill ,attended Stem Cell Transplant unit at MD Anderson Cancer Centre USA. |
