The survival rate is more than 80%, which increases more if the disease is diagnosed early. A Uterine Cancer is termed as ‘Endometrial’ if it occurs in the inner lining of the uterus. 99% of cases of malignancy of the uterus turn out to be Endometrial, the rest being sarcomas (malignant tumours).Dr.Subhankar Deb is specialist in treating this dangerous disease. His team of expert doctors and surgeons make sure that every patient receives our bespoke medical facilities and services, no matter what. |

What Causes the Disease?
Most cases of Uterine & Endometrial Cancer in Kolkata occur because of:
• Excessive secretion of the hormone oestrogen, which, in turn, can stimulate the overgrowth of the uterus lining (endometrium). This is known as endometrial hyperplasia, which can later develop into cancer.
• Obesity. Fatty tissues lead to heavier secretion of oestrogen.
• Frequent, abnormal menstrual cycles, in which oestrogen is produced.
• A regular diet regime rich in fat, and lack of physical activity.
• Intake of oestrogen supplements or undergoing hormone replacement therapy.
• A family history of the disease, or breast cancer, or even inherited colon cancer.
If a woman never had children, had her first menstrual period before she turned 12, or went through menopause after she turned 55.
• If she has a history of taking the drug tamoxifen for the treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
• If she has had radiation therapy to the pelvis. |

What are the Symptoms?
The most common symptoms of Uterine and Endometrial Cancer in Kolkata are heavy menstrual periods and abnormal vaginal bleeding, discharge or spotting. Other than that, women who bleed between periods or after menopause are also at a risk of developing the disease. The abnormal bleeding begins as a watery blood flow, which becomes heavier later. Other symptoms include pain during urinating, or during an intercourse, and in the pelvic area. |

Diagnosis of Uterine & Endometrial Cancer in Kolkata by Dr.Subhankar Deb:
If you approach him with symptoms of the disease, you may be asked to go through one or more of these following tests: A pelvic examination, in which the doctor will look for lumps in the uterus and vagina.
